A Long year of Illustrious-Illuminating-Alliterating - MJB
Welcome. As a New Year's resolution I plan to write at least two short quips that contain four or more alliterative words a week. Hopefully there will be a new alliteration here every Wednesday and Sunday, so be sure to check back.
As a matter of background an alliteration is the repetition of a sound in the stressed syllable of a series of words. Sometimes alliteration is confused with simply starting a string of words with the same first letter. This generally works, but only because in English we commonly stress the letter at the beginning of a word, however, this is not always the case.
For example it is the consonant l sound, that is stressed in illustrious, illuminating, and alliterating.
